L.A. Times: U.S. Overmatched in 7-3 Defeat

The Los Angeles Times says the United States was overmatched in its 7-3 loss to South Korea Monday in the World Baseball Classic.

The daily on Tuesday said the United States seem overmatched in Monday's game after Choi Hee-seop's three-run homer in the fourth inning, adding more than a century of baseball history and the world's richest players have not helped the American team.

The Times also said Lee Seung-yeop in 2003 spurned a one-year deal for a million dollars from the Los Angeles Dodgers to sign a two-year contract for nearly five million dollars from the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan.

South Korea remains the only unbeaten team in the tournament at 5-0, and will play Japan Wednesday.
