The International Olympic Committee has given an award to the head of the nation's Olympic Athletes' Training Center, Elisa Lee.

The Korean Olympic Committee announced Thursday that the IOC cited her contributions to women's sports.

A distinguished athlete and leader, Lee in 1973 won one of South Korea's first gold medals in table tennis.

In March last year, she was named the first woman chief of the center since its inception in 1966.
