The British science journal Nature has reconfirmed the authenticity of the world's first cloned dog "Snuppy."

The magazine on Thursday published two papers by the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the investigative panel of Seoul National University saying Snuppy was genuine and describing the cloning process.

In August last year, Nature said scientist Hwang Woo-suk and his colleague Lee Byeong-chun were the first in the world to clone a dog.

Doubts over Snuppy surfaced, however, after Hwang was found to have fabricated data in his theses on stem cells.

In January, the investigative panel released a report confirming the authenticity of Snuppy.
