The winner of the Nobel Prize for medicine last year arrived Tuesday in Seoul for a six-day visit.

Barry Marshall will meet with Education Minister Kim Jin-pyo, Science and Technology Minister Kim Woo-sik and Health and Welfare Minister Rhyu Si-min.

Winning the award for showing that helicobacter pylori bacteria causes stomach ulcers, he will also visit the research institute of yogurt producer Korea Yakult and attend a bacteria symposium.

The Australian scientist has appeared on a Korea Yakult TV commercial in South Korea.
