Korea Telecom from late April will provide satellite communication service for ocean-going vessels.

The company said Tuesday that it signed last week a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Heavy Industries to provide the service through Mobile Very Small Aperture Terminal.

The service will enable offshore vessels to send and receive data and voice service and allow Internet use through small satellite antennas.

The company said the service will open a new era in global satellite communication with a more stable quality than other international services.
