Korean Aerospace Industries has launched production of its XKT-1 trainer jet, the export version of its K-T-One model.

The consortium on Tuesday said the long-range XKT-1 meets the needs of jet importers abroad by having the basic characteristics of the KT-1 and the tactical control jet KO-1.

Test flights of the jet will begin in December after technical examinations are done.

A company official says Indonesia has ordered 12 KT-1 jets and some countries in Latin and Central America and Southeast Asia are interested in the XKT-1.
