Striker Park Chu-young on Wednesday broke out of a slump as his goal was just enough for the national soccer team to beat Angola, 1-0, in a friendly game in Seoul.
At World Cup Sangam Stadium, Park in the 22nd minute dribbled the ball towards the left part of the penalty box and shot the ball across the grain into the net.
The young dynamo had not started in the team's last three games due to unimpressive play.
South Korea looked aggressive in front of a raucous home crowd and had several close opportunities to score early but could not capitalize until Park's goal.
Angola, which will play in its first World Cup in June, also had a few chances but was frustrated by South Korea's tight four-back defense.
The return of England-based stars Park Ji-sung and Lee Young-pyo for South Korea was also a huge morale booster for their team.
Angola's style of play is seen as similar to that of South Korea's first World Cup opponent this year, Togo, thus the game had strategic importance.
