The government has unveiled plans to form a task force that will lead efforts to introduce digital broadcasting service to the public.
The Ministry of Information and Communication said Tuesday that the task force will comprise government officials and experts from related industries, including broadcasting firms, as well as other private sector figures.
The ministry said it plans to mandate that all local TV manufacturers include digital tuners in their products in a bid to encourage consumers to buy more digital TVs.
The ministry will also seek special legislation to clear the way for the wide-scale introduction of digital broadcasting.
Digital broadcasting will provide high-quality, interactive and diverse broadcasting contents to meet the needs of more sophisticated TV viewers.
