The government plans to actively lead efforts to usher in an era of ubiquitous technology.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said measures regarding international standardization of ubiquitous technology will top discussions of a meeting being organized by the International Organization for Standardization.

Experts from South Korea, the U.S., England, China and Japan will take part in the gathering, which opens in Jeju Island on Wednesday.

Participants will focus on drawing up international standard drafts for commercial mobile communication and ultra-wideband communication.

In particular, South Korea will introduce at the meeting its technology related to high-speed power line communication as well as ubiquitous mobile communication.

Seoul is aiming to ultimately have the two technologies adopted as international standards.
