Female Skater Lee Fails to Medal

South Korea's Lee Sang-hwa finished fifth at the women's 500-meter speed skating event Wednesday at the Turin Winter Olympics.

Lee failed to win a medal with a time of 77.04 seconds in the first and second rounds. Russia won the gold with a time of 76.57 seconds and China took the silver.

Meanwhile, Park Yoon-bae finished 81st in the mens' biathlon ten-kilometer sprint.

South Korea ranks seventh in the medal tally with one gold, one silver and one bronze. The U.S. is atop the medal count with five golds.

Jin Seon-yoo will vie for a gold in the women's 500 meters short-track event early Thursday morning.
