Report: Togo Fires Nat'l Soccer Coach

A French daily says Togo has fired its national soccer coach Stephen Keshi.

L'Equipe on Tuesday said the Togolese soccer association has let Keshi go for the team's quick exit in the African Nations Cup.

A European coach will most likely take over Togo, with Philip Troussier of France a leading candidate given his previous experience in Africa.

Togo is South Korea's first opponent in the World Cup in Germany.

The Nigeria-born Keshi led Togo to its first World Cup qualification, but a recent string of disappointing defeats and clashes with star player Emmanuel Adebayor brought about his dismissal.
