Super Bowl MVP to Form Scholarship

Super Bowl hero Hines Ward will set up a scholarship named after his Korean mother for ethnic Korean students in the United States.

In an interview with Yonhap News Agency in Atlanta Friday, Ward said he feels blessed for being half Korean and wants to meet government officials and youth during his trip to South Korea in April.

He said he wants to give back to the Korean community through the scholarship, adding he has no hard feelings about his mother Kim Young-hee's mistreatment for marrying a non-Korean man.

Heaping praise on her and her worth ethic, Ward called her a tough person who kept fighting through adversity.

The player said he is also learning the Korean language and teaching it to his young son.
