American football star Hines Ward will give this week his Super Bowl MVP trophy to his Korean mother.

The Super Bowl MVP flew to New York Thursday for the ABC-TV morning show "Live With Regis and Kelly," where he thanked Kim Young-hee for devoting her life to him.

He will then return to Atlanta to see his wife and son and is expected to present his trophy to his mother.

Kim said Ward called her to say he will visit her over the weekend.

Ward's attorney said the player could hold a special news conference for South Korean news media.
