The consortium Korea Aerospace Industries on Wednesday said it has completed the pilot run of the advanced trainer aircraft and light attacker T/A-50.

The supersonic jet can destroy ground targets with the latest air-to-surface missiles.

Debuting in August 2002, the jet reached supersonic speed in February 2003 and demonstrated its attack capacity Friday by hitting a target with an air-to-surface missile.

The consortium said the Air Force will gradually introduce the T/A-50 to train pilots of advanced fighters upon the completion of the eight-year development project.
