Defender Lee Ho-jin is the country's second player to break into the Spanish soccer league.

Lee's agent JIW International said Wednesday that he has signed a three-year contract with Racing Santander, but did not disclose details.

The 23-year-old player is only the second South Korean to join the Primera Liga after Lee Chun-soo joined Real Sociedad in 2003.

A youth team star, Lee Ho-jin scored a goal against Germany in the 2003 under-20 world championships in the United Arab Emirates.

He had undergone tryouts with Anderlecht of Belgium, PSV Eindhoven of the Netherlands and Nantes of France before signing with Racing.

Racing will hold a signing ceremony Monday with his number 25 jersey.

JIW said Racing Coach Manuel Preciado was impressed with Lee Ho-jin's speed and ability to play either wing position or center defender.

Based in the northern Spanish city of Santander, Racing is ranked 12th out of the 20 Primera Liga teams.
