The men's under-19 soccer team beat Iran, 2-1, Wednesday in the world championships in Qatar.

In the team's second preliminary Wednesday, Suwon Samsung striker Shin Young-rok scored both goals in the second half to boost South Korea's chances of advancing to the semifinals.

South Korea has a win and a loss in the eight-nation tournament, and will play its final preliminary against Switzerland Friday.
