A San Francisco-based Web directory says Seoul is the world's top city for wireless Internet "hot spots."
JiWire on Tuesday told AFP that Seoul topped its list with 2,056 WiFi stations, followed by Tokyo with 1,802, London with 1,627, Paris with 950 and San Francisco with 801.
JiWire's vice president for marketing David Blumenfeld said the survey represents a true picture of the global WiFi market, adding that South Korea is one of the Asian countries whose wireless broadband technology is more advanced than that of the United States.
He said WiFi is a relatively cheap method of bringing broadband to the masses rather than running a multitude of fixed lines.
