North Korean midfielder Ahn Young-hak on Monday was formally introduced by his new team Busan I'Park.
Only the third player with North Korean nationality to play in South Korea's K-League, Ahn was given a special inter-Korean travel visa by immigration authorities.
Terms of his contract with Busan were not disclosed but a team source said the player has the option to renew for a number of years at the end of the season.
Debuting in 2001, Ahn played 68 games in the Japanese second-tier division and scored four goals. Moving up to the first league, he played 47 games and added another three scores.
In two rounds of World Cup qualifiers, he played six games and netted two goals.
To chronicle his experience in South Korea, Ahn has set up a personal Web site in Korean and Japanese on his background and hopes (www.yeonghag.info).
His grandfather grew up around Busan, thus Ahn said he wanted to play soccer near that area.
