Slugger Lee Leaves Japan's Lotte Team

Slugger Lee Seung-yeop has officially left Japan's Lotte Chiba Marines and is expected to sign with the Yomiuri Giants.

Japanese news media on Wednesday said talks between Lee's agent and Lotte broke off, leaving the player as an unrestricted free agent.

In late 2003, Lee signed a two-year deal worth 500 million yen with Lotte, and contributed to the team's win in the Japanese Series last year.

He hit .260 last year with team highs of 30 homers and 82 RBIs in 117 games.
