An ethnic Korean adoptee from the United States has won an event in a major global competition.

Toby Dawson on Friday won the World Cup men's moguls at the World Freestyle Championships in Utah with a score of 27.34.

Living at an orphanage in Busan until 1982, he was adopted the same year by a ski instructor couple from Colorado.

The victory sealed the 27-year-old athlete's spot on the U.S. ski team for the Torino Winter Olympics.
