The government plans to invest around nine-hundred-60 billion won in information-technology research and development this year.
The Ministry of Information and Communication announced Tuesday that it decided on a ten percent increase from last year's figure for the sector's R&D budget.
Around seven-hundred billion won will be injected into technological development, one-hundred billion into fostering talent and another one-hundred billion won into creating research infrastructure.
In particular, the ministry plans to focus investment on promoting new IT technologies, including wireless Internet and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, developing high-tech robots and enhancing the overall system of staff training.
The ministry plans to receive applications from the industrial and academic sector as well as research institutes and select the bodies that will receive government investment by March.
