The English Football Association has upheld a three-match suspension for Manchester City defender David Sommeil for his violent tackle of Tottenham Hotspur's Lee Young-pyo.

The association's disciplinary committee on Tuesday rejected Sommeil's appeal.

Sommeil will miss this weekend's Manchester derby, a game against Bolton and Manchester City's fourth-round FA Cup playoff against Wigan or Leeds.
