The Seoul National University panel investigating the stem cell scandal of Hwang Woo-suk will announce final results of its probe Tuesday.
The investigative panel has reportedly concluded that Hwang and his team had never succeeded in making patient-specific stem cells and that the number one stem cell line mentioned in Hwang’s 2004 paper was created by a so-called parthenogenesis mutation,.
The investigators are also known to have received results of mitochondria and DNA fingerprint tests by an outside organization on tissues of Hwang’s supposedly cloned dog Snuppy.
The panel also reportedly plans to reject Hwang’s proposal to give him six months to re-test and create patient-specific stem cells, rejecting the proposal as a scheme to buy time.
At least 150 pages long, the report will confirm to what extent Hwang’s colleagues were involved in the fabrication of the stem cell research and the exact number of ova used in Hwang’s research.
The final results will be released to news media and on the university's homepage.
