The head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration has denied a report that the government seeks to develop 3,000-ton nuclear submarines.

In a radio interview with the Catholic network PBC, Kim Jong-il on Monday said confidential military information on reinforcing submarine technology was recently posted in the Web because his staff failed to hold prior consultations on the matter.

Saying the global community would not approve of Seoul building a nuclear submarine, Kim said that even if the government was pursuing such a project, he said the plan should not be made public.
