Hwang Panel's Final Report Due Tuesday

A Seoul National University panel probing the stem cell scandal of Hwang Woo-suk plans to release the final results of its investigation on Tuesday.

The university said Friday that panel chief Chung Myeong-hee will announce the probe results in a news briefing, wrapping up the investigation.

The final report of between 50 and one-hundred pages will focus on the validity of Hwang's 2004 paper published in the British magazine Nature and the world's first cloned dog Snuppy.

The Tuesday announcement is expected to confirm if and to what extent Hwang's team has the technology to create patient-specific stem cells, the number of ova used, the procurement process and if Hwang will be allowed to try producing the stem cells again.

Punishment for Hwang and his co-authors will also be covered in the report.
