The national soccer team is in Group B with Iran, Syria and Taiwan in the qualifying round of the 2007 Asian Cup.

The drawing for the event's qualifiers was held Wednesday in Malaysia.

South Korea will play its opening game against Syria on February 22nd.

Teams in each of the six groups will compete in a round-robin tournament against each other.

The top two teams from each group and the four co-hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam will advance to the second round.

North Korea was ruled ineligible for the qualifying round after it missed the application deadline.
