The Korea Baseball Organization has nominated former vice speaker of the National Assembly Shin Sang-woo as its next commissioner.

The league office's executive board on Tuesday unanimously recommended Shin in a meeting attended by eight owners of pro teams.

A seven-term lawmaker, Shin will serve a three-year tenure through March 2009 after the Culture and Tourism Ministry approves his appointment.

The commissioner position was vacated last year after Park Yong-oh resigned over his involvement in an illegal slush fund scandal.
