Hwang's Partner: Snuppy Was Cloned

A research partner of cloning scientist Hwang Woo-suk says Hwang definitely cloned the world's first dog Snuppy through fusion of somatic cells.

Kim Min-kyu, a veterinarian at Seoul National University's Veterinary Hospital involved in the Snuppy project, told the Catholic radio station PBC Wednesday that he has concrete data proving the dog is a clone and not a fake as alleged.

Kim said he recently sent to the British science journal Nature the results of DNA fingerprint and mitochondria tests on Snuppy's DNA, adding the dog is 25 kilograms and very healthy.

Meanwhile, the investigative panel probing Hwang's work recently sent Snuppy's blood samples to another independent agency for DNA fingerprint tests.
