The investigative panel probing the stem cell research of disgraced scientist Hwang Woo-suk could perform more DNA fingerprint analysis.

Speculation is growing that the panel wants more tests after deciding that completed analysis of DNA samples stored at Hwang's lab is not enough to clear suspicion surrounding his research or that a study of 37 samples is complete.

The panel had earlier said more analyses could follow in order to guarantee accurate and safe analyses.

A final report is due early next month based on the results of DNA analysis on stem cells and teratoma that Hwang's research team used in its experiments.
