Construction of the main operating station for the civil and military communication satellite Koreasat V has been completed using domestic technology.

The Agency for Defense Development said Wednesday that the station has begun full operations to supervise the satellite, also known as Mugunghwa V, and manage the network of military satellite communication.

With the nearly completed Koreasat V as its centerpiece, the base is expected to play a key role in the operation of communication networks of the armed forces.

The satellite is set for launch in late June in waters south of the Hawaiian Archipelago.
