The Seoul National University panel investigating scientist Hwang Woo-suk's research will disclose the final results of its probe next week.
The team has nearly finished DNA fingerprint analysis of 37 samples of somatic and stem cells collected from Hwang's team, and will also check if analyses by three different agencies match.
Attracting the most attention among the 37 samples is stem cell No. 1 published in a paper appearing in Science magazine last year.
If the cell is found not to be a human embryonic stem cell, the panel will probably conclude that Hwang never had the source technology.
The panel is also running a DNA test on blood samples from the cloned dog Snuppy and from a dog whose somatic cells were provided to Snuppy.
The announcement next week on the existence of Hwang's core technology will likely serve as a defining moment in the stem cell scandal.
