The presidential office is remaining cautious after the Democratic Labor Party urged an investigation of state affairs in the wake of the controversy surrounding cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-suk.

In a news conference Wednesday, presidential spokesman Kim Man-soo said the office will wait until the investigative panel of Seoul National University presents its findings before deciding on government action.

Kim said punishment for officials involved in the controversy will come only after the entire truth is revealed.
