Daejeon will house the world's first "ubiquitous city" from 2009, with construction starting next year.

A consortium of major domestic companies including Korea Telecom and the Samsung and LG groups on Tuesday announced a plan to a test U-city cluster.

A high-tech network for security and other functions will connect the city as residents can enjoy the latest communication and convergence technologies, including fully digital homes.
