Tuesday Is Coldest Day This Winter

A cold snap has gripped the nation, making Tuesday the coldest day this winter.

Morning lows nosedived to minus 18-point-six degrees Celsius in parts of Gangwon Province, with temperatures of minus eleven-point-three degrees in Seoul, minus ten-point-three degrees in Daejon, minus six degrees in Gwangju, and minus five-point-nine degrees in Busan.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall, which hit South Jeolla Province including Gwangju Monday, forced around 40 schools in the region to temporarily shut down.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) said three to ten centimeters of more snow would fall through Wednesday night in the southwest costal region before easing up. Snow is expected again on Thursday or Friday.
