Temperatures in the central region Monday morning dropped to minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Chuncheon saw minus 12.7 degrees, Seoul minus eight degrees, Busan minus 3.8 degrees and Gwangju minus 3.5 degrees.

The sub-zero weather will continue through the day in the central region while the afternoon high for Seoul is forecast to hit minus four degrees.

Nationwide, temperatures should range between minus five to three degrees. The cold snap is expected to linger throughout the week.

Ten to 15 centimeters of snow fell in the west coast of the Jeolla provinces and South Chungcheong Province with snow warnings issued.

As much as 20 centimeters of snow is expected in the area Tuesday with snowfall to continue through Thursday.
