University of Pittsburgh to Probe Hwang's Researchers

The University of Pittsburgh says it will conduct a probe on members of cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-suk's research team. The South Korean researchers are believed to have conveyed critical testimony to the MBC-TV news magazine "Producer Notebook" that raised suspicion over the validity of Hwang's work.

The school said it will investigate alleged duplicate stem cell photos published in the U.S. journal Science, possibly flawed DNA fingerprint analysis, and the overall results of Hwang's research.

A university spokesperson also told Seoul-based YTN news agency on Sunday that the three Korean researchers, who are currently employed at the American school, have not come to work nor contacted the school in recent days.
