Seoul National University will soon announce its official position on the controversy surrounding
its professor Hwang Woo-suk.

The university's research affairs chief Noh Jung-hye told reporters Thursday that the school administration is considering options and will soon announce its position.

Noh said university president Chung Un-chan has heard a number of views on the matter and is considering what to do.

In a Wednesday meeting, the school's bioethics deliberation committee discussed ethics of cell stem research and scientists and the position that the university should take.

Committee members also urged the university to set up a system to inspect and verify bioethical problems like schools in the West.
