The Korea Ocean Research and Development Institute on Wednesday said it has developed an unmanned submersible research vehicle that can descend to a depth of 6,000 meters.

Equipped with an exploration robot, the vehicle can explore 97 percent of the world's oceans and is expected to help marine research and the exploration of sea resources.

South Korea joins the United States, France and Japan in developing unmanned deep sea vessels.
