The condition of stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suck is still unknown following his admittance to Seoul National University Hospital Tuesday for numerous ailments.
According to sources at the hospital, the professor appeared to be extremely weary and to have lost some ten kilograms, and seemed to be suffering from a bad cold.
The sources added that Hwang is also dehydrated and has shown minor symptoms of pneumonia.
The professor is reportedly being treated in a non-ward area of the facility, and is expected to remain hospitalized for at least ten days.
Earlier on Tuesday, Hwang's leading research partner Ahn Kyu-ri told reporters that, as his attending physician, she believed an immediate return to work would be impossible for Hwang due to his poor health. She added that it was necessary for the professor to regain his strength after resting at the hospital.
