The research team of cloning pioneer Hwang Woo-suk says it will regain public trust through new discoveries or theses in stem cell research rather than verify the validity of its work.

Researcher Lee Byung-chun on Monday said the team will continue its work, achieve more breakthroughs and publish its findings in renowned science journals to prove the integrity of the team's research.

The team will also not ask authorities to conduct DNA tests to disprove allegations of tainted research raised by an MBC TV news magazine.

Lee said his fellow researchers will not seek to confirm their past work as urged by the MBC program "Producer Notebook."

MBC on Sunday apologized for the unethical conduct of the show's producers, who admitted to using coercive tactics in the course of raising suspicion over Hwang's research.
