Samsung Electronics says it has developed a seven-inch color TFT-LCD that does not break when bent.

The company on Monday said the display is the largest in the world and twice as big as its five-inch version developed early this year.

Samsung said it used transparent plastic substrates that are thinner and lighter than glass and that the definition level is high enough for an LCD TV.

The product is slated for use in portable devices such as mobile phones or laptop computers, and is on display at an exhibition on the nation's future growth engines at the Seoul COEX Mall.
