Wie Misses Cut at Casio Open in Japan

Michelle Wie on Friday failed in her quest to become only the second woman to make the cut in a major men's golf tournament.

In Japan's Kochi Prefecture, she bogeyed her final two holes to miss the cut in the men's Casio World Open by one stroke.

Wie shot three birdies and six bogeys for a three over-75 and a 36-hole total of four over-148.

Babe Didrikson Zaharias is the only woman to make the cut in a men's PGA event.

The 16-year-old Wie is just the second woman to play in a men's event in Japan after Sophie Gustafson tried in the same tournament in 2003.
