Stem cell pioneer Hwang Woo-suk is in seclusion in an unknown location after making a public apology Thursday over the egg donation controversy.

A member of his research team on Friday said Hwang left Seoul National University immediately after the news conference Thursday and has cut off all means of communication to rest and regain his energy.

Another member said the team has refrained from contacting him in order not to disrupt his rest.
