Soccer Coach Blasts Pro Team's Threat

National soccer coach Dick Advocaat is angry over a domestic pro team's threat to withold its players from going to the national squad's overseas training next year.

In an impromptu news conference in Seoul Monday, Advocaat said players who do not train abroad between January and February will not play in the World Cup in Germany.

Advocaat said the practice abroad is crucial since the team cannot train again until May, and even then, the Champions League playoffs in Europe could make another three to five players unavailable.

He also stressed the importance of international matches given the weak competition in the domestic K-League.

The coach on Tuesday will announce 31 candidates for the overseas training camp and release a final list on December 19th.
