Soccer Body's Technical Committee Resigns

The technical committee of the Korea Football Association resigned Monday.

Committee chairman Lee Hwoi-taek will keep his position as KFA vice president and vice chairman Kang Shin-woo will stay on as chief of the technical department.

Kang said the members did not resign after Dick Advocaat was named coach in order not to dodge responsibility, but decided to do so after the national team stabilized.

Lee and the association have come under fire since the end of the 2002 World Cup after the team under coaches Humberto Coehlo and Jo Bonfrere did not meet expectations.

A player for the national team in the 1960s and 1970s, Lee began his coaching career at Hanyang University in 1983 and later took over the national team in the 1990 Italy World Cup.

From 1998 to 2003, he coached the Chunnam Dragons of the domestic K-League.
