First Snow to Fall Monday

The first snow of the winter season is expected to fall Monday.

The Korea Meteorological Administration said snow would come down in Seoul, the Gyeonggi Province, and the western part of the Gangwon Province, coinciding with the passing of a weak low-pressure trough from Sunday night through Monday morning.

The regions are forecast to get less than one centimeter of snow, mainly from small snowflakes, while the North and South Chungcheong Provinces, and the Ullung Island and the Dokto islets in the East Sea will get five millimeters of rain.

The weather agency’s official also said that the recent early winter cold weather would recede beginning tomorrow afternoon, with temperatures rising nine to 10 degrees Celsius nationwide, before it begins getting colder next weekend.
