Busan will bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.

Busan Mayor Hur Nam-sik on Tuesday will hold a news conference to officially announce the city's bid at the Bexco International Media Center.

Hur said the city's hosting of the APEC summit and the 2009 general assembly of the International Olympics Committee has provided publicity opportunities for Busan.

He said he decided to made Busan's bid public while it has the media spotlight during the APEC summit.
