Nation Adds 11 Golds in E. Asian Games

The national team on Thursday added eleven gold medals on the sixth day of the fourth East Asian Games in Macau.

The team won four golds in taekwondo, three in bowling, two in shooting and one each in weightlifting and tennis for third place in the medal standings.

In taekwondo, the men and women's teams swept all four divisions. Park Myeong-suk won the women's 49-kg class and Lee Sung-a the women's 57 kg, while Ko Seok-hwa took the men's 58 kg and Lee Yong-yeol the men's 68 kg.

In shooting, Han Jin-seop clinched the 50-meter rifle prone discipline while La Kyung-ae added another gold at the women's 25-meters.

In tennis, Kim Dong-hyun and Kwon Oh-hee won the men's doubles title after their compatriot duo of An Jae-sung and Kwon Hyung-tae withdrew from the final.

Jang Mi-ran took the gold in the women's 75 kg weightlifting event.

South Korea has 20 golds, 30 silvers and 31 bronzes and is within striking distance of second-place Japan.
