The Korea Baseball Organization on Monday named Lotte Giants pitcher Sohn Min-han as this year's Most Valuable Player.

Winning 55 of 88 votes, Sohn went 18-7 this year with an earned run average of 2.46.

He is also Lotte's first MVP since Choi Dong-won in 1984, and the first from a team failing to advance to the Korean Series since the playoff system was introduced in 1986.

The award for top rookie went to relief pitcher and Korean Series MVP Oh Seung-hwan of the league champion Samsung Lions.

Oh is the third Samsung player to win the honor, following league career hits leader Yang Jun-hyuk in 1993 and Lee Dong-soo in 1995.
