Koreas to Discuss Fielding Joint Squads

The two Koreas will hold working-level talks in Macau on fielding joint teams at next year's Asian Games in Doha and the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

The Korean Olympic Committee on Monday said a North Korean delegation attending the East Asian Games has suggested a meeting at a Macau hotel.

Six delegates from each side are expected to hold their first discussion on a unified Olympic team, including athlete selection, training methods and cost sharing, before working on a joint statement.

In Saturday's opening ceremony of the East Asian Games, inter-Korean athletes marched under a unified banner for the sixth time in an international sporting event since the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
